Easterseals New Hampshire and Swim With A Mission are collaborating to offer best-in-class programs and services at the Easterseals NH Military & Veterans Campus through partnerships with Veteran service providers. Our partner organizations are committed to our mission of supporting service members, Veterans, and their families, helping them live their best lives.

We are excited to partner with the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH, to offer a creative outlet for those served by the Easterseals NH Military & Veterans Campus. The museum’s Art for Vets program provides personal and meaningful experiences through the Currier’s art collection and specialized opportunities to create art. Art for Vets fosters wellness by developing personal creative expression and building peer connections so no one stands alone.

Forging Connections Through Arts and Creativity

The Currier Museum’s Art for Vets program aims to help service members, Veterans, and their families served by the Easterseals NH Military & Veterans Campus by aligning art with a whole health philosophy. The program uses art as an effective way to build a sense of accomplishment and inspire camaraderie, a means of self-discovery and transparent communication with others, and a pathway to self-care.

The museum’s art educators have found that art viewing and creation are transformative experiences for many service members and Veterans. Through gallery viewings and creating art in various forms, participants express ideas and form emotional connections. These cathartic experiences provide the therapeutic creative outlet many in the military community seek.

“It truly opened a whole new world for me—the combination of looking at some paintings, discussing them, having our teacher introduce new concepts of all kinds, talking to the other vets, and then trying something new,” explained Chuck, an Art for Vets participant. “Working with a lot of other vets today in observation and then creative mode was a tonic for me.”

An Engaging, Supportive Experience

Our campaign, Mission Fortify, aims to create a one-stop shop for the military community’s needs, including financial assistance, mental health support, therapeutic services, outpatient substance use disorder treatment, and recreation. The Art for Vets program promotes community engagement, creativity, and well-being for the military community through supportive experiences. The Currier Museum believes art is universal and that regardless of the service member’s, Veteran’s, or family member’s place of origin, disposition, or aptitude, a relationship to art is available to everyone and will help Granite Staters who served live their best lives.
